ENERGY SECURITY

Gulf wars & political insecurities in different parts of world has created a concern for energy security. Russian war with Georgia now in August 2008 has raised issues on Climate change fight by racing price of gases. Poland feels Russian Georgia dispute has made gas less attractive source of electricity. This has alarmed environmentalists as it will not desist emission curbs from cars and planes. The key is to balance the three dimensions, climate change, fuel poverty & energy security .

CALIFORNIA WANTS EMISSION CURB LAWS

California has jam packed traffic in suburbs. It want to change all by bringing a sweeping law to slow the increase in emission by encouraging emission by encouraging housing close to jobsites, rail lines and bus stops. It wants to reduce time of travel between home to office by bringing work home location closer by making regional planning. It will make roads and bridges at close locations to work place. It will decide how much affordable housing a community must allow.


RICH COUNTRIES FACE CLIMATE HEAT

In Accra meet India & China have raised in a unified voice that the rich countries must set aside 1% of GDP to help developing world face challenges of global warming. These money must come through UNFCC which is a neutral body and not World bank and other financial institution. It was felt that many rich countries were green washing their financial commitment through overseas financial development assistance norms manipulations which sends funds in areas other than environment help use.
